  • Accountability in the usage of lethal autonomous weapon systems
  • The militarization of the Arctic Circle

Meet your Chairs:

Martijn Bergmann

Hello everyone,

My name is Martijn and I am a second year Security Studies student at Leiden University (in The Hague). After having been at MUNOTH 2019 as a faculty advisor I am excited to now join MUNOTH as one of the chairs of DISEC! Back in the day, DISEC was my first ever committee at my first ever MUN conference, so I am excited to be back in DISEC again!

Next to MUN I love all the things that I do (which is a lot), but to give some examples, I work at a movie theatre, for which I get free movie tickets! Other than that, I love reading, rowing, running, and simply trying out new things to learn about as much as I can. I am excited to meet all of you and hope to have a fruitful and creative debate during MUNOTH!

I hope to see you all there,

Martijn

Silvia Alonso

Hello, future delegates! My name is Silvia Alonso Vega and I will be one of your Chairs for the Disarmament and International Security Committee. I am from Costa Rica but I moved to Norway a few years ago to study at United World College. Currently, I am a first-year student of International Relations and Organizations at Leiden University in The Hague. I started Model United Nations many years ago at my high school in Costa Rica and have participated in multiple conferences ever since, both as chair and delegate. As your chair, I will be in charge of making sure you get the most out of your experience in our committee. This will be an amazing opportunity for you to practice your diplomatic skills and meet bright students from different universities. I look forward to meeting all of you and hope you are as excited for the conference as I am. Come prepared to make the most out of this experience and ready to discuss some of today’s most pressing issues!
